October 31, 20169 yr I would like to share my onboard sound card with two VMs at the same time. I have Linux Mint VM and Windows VM running simultaneously. I use Linux Mint VM as my main destkop - it is connected to the onboard intel hd 4600 graphics card (unRaid 6.3.0-rc3). To the Windows VM is passedthrough nVidia card and I want to use it for gaming. I have passed-through sound cards to the Linux Mint VM: 00:1b.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation 9 Series Chipset Family HD Audio Controller [8086:8ca0] 00:03.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor HD Audio Controller [8086:0c0c] (rev 06) It would be nice that somehow I can configure WIndows VM to use pulseaudio network server from Linux Mint VM. Or even better that I have installed pulseaudio server on unRaid host and both VMs are configured as pulseaudio client. Any idea how to achieve this?
November 1, 20169 yr Not a clue whether or not this would work, but this link seems to imply that if you get the windows install to use the sound hardware, you can redirect the linux audio through the windows box. https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/FAQ/#index33h3
