February 12, 201016 yr How do I (in a clean way) change the slot of a disk? I tried to move a disk from slot 12 to 14. Attached screen dump
February 12, 201016 yr since you are changing a disk configuration you must use the button labeled as "restore." It has nothing to do with getting back data, but is actually a "Set Disk Configuration" button. It will save a new configuration based on the currently assigned and working drives. Checking the box under it will enable it, clicking it will IMMEDIATELY invalidate parity. If you were to then press the "Start" button, a new complete parity calc will begin. If all you are doing is moving a disk from one logical slot to another, and still have all the same disks in your array, parity does not really change, so you can use the "trust-my-parity" procedure as described in the wiki here: http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=Make_unRAID_Trust_the_Parity_Drive,_Avoid_Rebuilding_Parity_Unnecessarily The command mentioned in the wiki must be entered on the Linux command line before you press "Start" Joe L.
