Strange Behavior with CacheDisks

Featured Replies

Hello Everybody,

I am a new fresh unraid users, i am using unraid now for about 3 weeks. And just inserted my third Cache disk.

I have 3 Samsung Evo 850 500GB SSD's as cache disks. But the total size is showing 750 GB. I don't understand this. When i added the second disk i did understand that became the parity disk (or the standby disk for the pool) but now i added another disk and the size is 750GB.

Maybe this is expected, but for me it isn't (at this moment) can someone please explain?

The screenshot is from btrfs calculator.

It is not parity, it is mirroring your data. Everything is stored on 2 devices, so you only get half the total space. You could think of it as storing 750 GB on 1.5 disks, and the mirror of that 750 GB on the other 1.5 disks, for a total of 3 x 500 = 1500 GB.

Ok thank you very much, it isn't bad, but i don't want it to be anything wrong in the system.

So this is explainable, so no problem!
