November 2, 20169 yr The first things I would check are the cables, the switch (does it keep resetting?) and the Ethernet port on the router/DHCP server. EDIT: Actually, the latter wouldn't cause carrier loss.
November 3, 20169 yr Author The first things I would check are the cables, the switch (does it keep resetting?) and the Ethernet port on the router/DHCP server. EDIT: Actually, the latter wouldn't cause carrier loss. Thanks, it's hard to tell if the switch is resetting, i'll try to run to it next time it happens. I am also investigating the DNSmasq configuration on the router, I am starting to suspect it might be a configuration issue also.
November 3, 20169 yr The switch resetting sounds like a very likely suspect. It looks like the whole network dropped out for 3 seconds, each time.
November 3, 20169 yr You don't say what kind of switch you're using. A managed switch would show something in its log. An unmanaged switch I would expect to flash its lights.
