November 8, 20169 yr Total size: 8 TB Elapsed time: 9 hours, 37 minutes Current position: 16.2 GB (0.2 %) Estimated speed: 851.9 KB/sec Estimated finish: 108 days, 3 hours, 15 minutes Any idea why this would be going so slow? Will it speed up? Anything I need to do? Is this because that 500gb has started showing errors? Can I stop the parity mount the drive and remove it? Should I?
November 10, 20169 yr Author I ended up dropping disk 10 and starting over it is still working but reads are so slow it might as well be dead. Now it is back to a 3 day parity build time which seems about right.
November 10, 20169 yr In my experience, getting rid of anything smaller than 2TB drives should dramatically speed up your parity check times, although it depends on how they are connected to your motherboard, if they are all onboard it should be fine.
