Stuck here.. :'(

 

I get some weird error (QEMU) when trying to start a new VM (any OS) that I've determined (through process of elimination) is referenced to my on-board audio, specifically:

(..it is listed in the drop-down list during VM Manager creation.)

 

The motherboard is an Asus P10S WS.

 

Oddly, I can pass-through HDMI sound (..but I don't have monitors with audio).

Skylake Integrated audio is permanently in the same IOMMU group as several other devices, including an SMBus controller. You'll need to stub the other devices in that group before you can import the audio controller.

Don't know what "stub the other devices in that group" means.

 

However, it sounds as if you are describing the HDMI portion of its integrated CPU.. which makes me think my on-board sound isn't being detected by Unraid (..which I thought was the Intel Point-H HD Audio). I read that Unraid doesn't support passthrough to m-board/CPU video and audio, so I can "give that up", but I don't want to give-up on-board sound.

 

-going back to the "spec.s" for the m-board, it looks like it's from Realtek - sooo.. I'll have to look through the bios tomorrow to see if it's "enabled" (..though I don't understand why it would NOT be).

Since you clearly need a guide on how to search the forum, and I need to post redundant information.

 

This topic and series of posts should shed some light on your problem.

 

You need to set some kernel boot parameters in your syslinux.cfg to "stub" the SMBus Controller and other devices in the same IOMMU group as your sound device.
