[Feature Request] Independent virtualization services

Hi,

For the last 3+ years I had a ESXi 5/6 host running unraid as guest.

2 Weeks ago I migrated to unRaid 6 as host and I couldn't be happier! Great job!

The only issue's i'm experiencing are due to the dependancies between the services in the system.

For example, libvirtd requires the array to run for it to run. This is a huge dependancy and one that isn't really required.

Since every network related update requires a services to shutdown and sometimes array it's hard to manage the system.

Try running an active directory as a VM, not possible.

The current configuration is set to relay on the array storage for libvrt.img (and docker) and other vm images.

I understand why, since unRaid is set to run on a USB stick this has much sense.

Since unRaid is originally a raid management system running on a USB stick such legacy led to the current configuration.

With the current state of unRaid things have change, running as a virtualization host has some implications.

To server as a proper solid virt host unRaid must not depend on the array for virtualization.

We need an option to mount local disks and be able to run VM's on them.

The unassigned devices plugin provides the option to mount local disks but it stops/start based on the array stop/start command.

So, if we have the option to mount physical disks as persistent, non raid, logical disks as a native unraid feature it will be the first phase towards the goal.

Then a user can opt in to run libvirtd on that disks with no connection to the array or any other service.
