February 16, 201016 yr My laptop just broke - needs a new motherboard that costs about the same as I gave for the whole laptop.... Was wondering if I could build a router from the CPU - it's an Intel T7500 SLAF8. Tried to buy a Aopen I945GTM with a socket 479, but it doesnt fit into the board...searched some more and the CPU has socket PPGA478. Tried to search for a desktop motherboard with this socket but I couldnt find any. Anyone knows if that exists ? Thx
February 16, 201016 yr Check into this board MSI 945G Speedster-A4R, Socket 478 DDR MB http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120484379398&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT I've used it with a core duo and supposedly with a bios update it works with a core 2 duo. also MSI 945GT Speedster-A4V Intel Cpu Socket M (I think I have this one. I cannot remember). http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=133&cat2_no=208&prod_no=1225 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350219361547&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
February 17, 201016 yr Author Thx WeeboTech but the T7500 is socket P and not socket M. The Aopen board I bought is also socket M....and finding a Socket P desktop motherboard is proving very difficult. Atleast in Denmark where I live Found a Socket P backbone but that is very expensive and not very flexable. I think I'll try and get the Supermicro Atom board and just reuse RAM and HD instead.
February 17, 201016 yr Ahhjh. I did not look that far into the T7500. I looked and it said - Micro-FCPGA. I have a T7600 and it is Socket M. Sorry for the assumption. I know there are/were a number of mITX boards that supported socket P. Check out logicsupply.com
February 17, 201016 yr Author NP WeeboTech - I made the same error when I bought the Aopen motherboard.... And I've even talked to a couple of Danish stores that made the error......
