I have unraid running well on this set up. Installed win 10 pro VM. (the M/B has the required VM enabled)

I can only get the vm running at 800x800 resolution! Not new to pc building - built all my PCs since 1994.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you passing through the GPU?  If so, install the drivers for the GPU.  If not, open device manager, display adapters, and update driver on the "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" you see there.  Then point to the virtio driver disk and search.  This will install the RedHat QXL graphics driver allowing for higher resolution settings within the VM.

I came across this thread looking for an answer to why my win vms were all low res, they didn't used to be under the earlier unraid version but after the upgrade they were all only using the basic microsoft driver. This has fixed it but would be useful information in the setting windows vm's up faq.
