2 x 2TB HDD in Raid 1 over 500mb/s without cache? HOW???

Featured Replies

im wondering how i get with 2 disks in raid 1 an read and write speed of 500 mb/s.

there's no cache device attached, but i have an unassigned device (attached to a vm (by-id)).

do use unraid the ram als cache?

i believe that's the case. Try to copy a file that's bigger than your free RAM, see if the speed decreases dramatically once the RAM fills up.

Yes, It will be the RAM, I remember my first excitement when I built my first Server.....until the RAM filled up!  ::)

unRAID using two disks, one data and one parity isn't RAID 1 - but it is a special configuration that will support writes to the array that are faster than when 2+ data drives are attached.  That said, 500mb/s is 62.5MB/s, and that's within the normal parameters for writes to the array.  Did you mean mb/s?
