Frank1940
Try rebooting the router.... (I would bet that your router table now has two identical MAC addresses in it.) Quote Link to comment
HAVOC
No I deleted the old dhcp reservation. Just rebooted the router. Quote Link to comment
Frank1940
And what does it say the IP address for the server is (at the right side of the banner)? Quote Link to comment
HAVOC
192.168.1.6 Quote Link to comment
Frank1940
I am assuming that \\192.168.1.6 in Windows Explorer (The file manager) does not bring up the server. What is the error? I also assume that you have tried all of the computers on your network and they all behave the same. When you look at the Network icon (or type Network into the address bar on Windows Explorer), what do you see? Another thing to try. From the command line on your server, type nmblookup -S WORKGROUP where WORKGROUP is the name of your workgroup. You should get a complete list of all the computers that are using SMB in that workgroup. If you see a line with .._MSBROWSER_. That is the master browser for that workgroup. Quote Link to comment
HAVOC
When I type the ip in explorer im prompted to enter a username and password. I have all shares set to public. All machines doing the same thing. How come the ip is coming up 192.168.122.1? Thats weird right? Quote Link to comment
RobJ
When you see a 192.168.122.1 address, you know you are on the internal virtual bridge, usually virbr0. You want the external bridge br0, so just select it. If you don't see it, go to Network settings and turn on bridging. Quote Link to comment
HAVOC
Bridging is enabled and my docker apps are working. Quote Link to comment
ashman70
Have you setup any users? Or are you trying to do all of this as root? If so, setup a user and then try and access from windows as that user. Quote Link to comment
HAVOC
Guys thanks for the help but I reverted back to 6.1.19. I just reinstalled and all my shares are back.
