November 17, 20169 yr So my motherboard failed so I have to get a new one. I currently have a Sabertooth x58 in my Corsair 800D tower. What would be the most cost effective way to replace it? Just get a new mobo, proc, ram and fan? Will it be hard to get my stuff back up and going? I mainly use it for streaming 1 plex stream at a time and file storage, nothing more.
November 17, 20169 yr How do you know your motherboard is the problem? If you are sure, just replace it, your CPU and RAM should be ok. If you can't get the exact same board, make sure you get one that is compatible with your CPU and RAM.
November 17, 20169 yr Author I tore it down to barebones and tried to boot it and it won't. The power supply passed the paperclip test and powered everything up but when I plug the 24 pin cable back to the board it won't even light up. Not sure what else to test.
