November 17, 20169 yr I have installed unRaid on a IntelNUC with 16Gig of RAM. I want to create 3 VMs: 2x4Gb + 8Gb, but the unRaid does not allow me to do that? Do you know what are the limitation? I can create 2x VM with 4Gb and third one is only allowed with 5Gb of RAM ?
November 17, 20169 yr You can create the VMs - you just cannot run them simultaneously! My rule of thumb is to allow 1GB overhead on each VM above RAM allocated plus around 1GB for unRAID system use in terms of working out what can be run simultaneously. The 1GB overhead per running VM may be a little high but it seems better to err on the side of caution.
November 17, 20169 yr An even simpler answer TOTAL RAM = VM1 + VM2 + VM3 + UNRAID Substitute in the figures 16GB = 4GB + 4GB + 8GB + 0GB (UNRAID) You need to leave some for Unraid, most of us would recommend at least 4GB.....
