kizer Posted November 21, 2016 Share Posted November 21, 2016 Best/Worst case Fire up a USB and give it a boot and see how it responds. A lot of your modern Macs have intel boards anyways so I don't see why it couldn't honestly. Link to comment

It is possible to boot almost every bootable USB with UEFI bootloader on Macs. I installed ESXi on my iMac and Linux on my MacBook, i just had to make the bootable usb stick with rufus and select it by holding down the option key while booting. Link to comment
John_M Posted November 22, 2016 Share Posted November 22, 2016 That's good to hear. Others have tried to use old Mac Pros for unRAID (at least they have drive bays!) and reported not being able to get them to boot. I haven't tried it myself as, frankly, I can't see the point. Link to comment

I don't know if the old Mac Pros will work but the "trash can" Mac Pro (2013) should work, it is officially supported by ESXi(Source) but i don't know if unRAID works. Link to comment
