February 21, 201016 yr Hi, I am trying to copy my media library from my ntfs formated disk through a telnet window. I have followed the guide here http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=Copy_files_from_a_NTFS_drive Problem is that folders and filenames with the special Danish characters Æ, Ø and Å are replaced with underscores when copying files with the CP command. Do I need to set the language in the telnet session or something like that ?
February 22, 201016 yr Cant help you with the Æ; Ø and Å but it's nice to see another Dane in here My solution is simply not to use any Danish characters in file name on any platform.
February 23, 201016 yr Og én til dansker her When I copy files within unraid I use "Midnight Commander". From the telnet prompt type mc. With this utility I have no trouble copying danish characters. I'm using Putty for the telnet session, don't know if that can make a difference. BR Søren
April 23, 201016 yr Author I thought I would let this one surface again. I have a new problem - I want to run sfv-checks of my files on the server (instead of running it on my windows box over the network). But those files that contain danish characters æøå will not be checked because these characters are not interpreted correctly in filenames. For example a filename containing an 'ø' is listed with the 'ø' replaced by '\303\270' in the filename. Example, ls returns the following filename: H\303\270jby\ hospital\ -\ Overophedet.avi However 'cat sfvfile.sfv' returns the propper filename: ; Generated by SFV32 v1.0a on 2008-08-19 at 06:06.08 ; 93282548 00:19.42 2005-06-12 Højby hospital - Overophedet.avi Højby hospital - Overophedet.avi 22448EFF When I look at the files over the network the filenames come out correctly. Does anyone have a clue on setting up language in Slackware / unraid (total linux newbie here...)?
