jnheinz
I have a SAS disk that was part of the array for awhile that I have about 1TB of data that I want to copy off of it. I suspect it may be failing & was encountering a complicated scenario that I ended up removing it from the array. I have since rebuilt parity. I would rather not add it back to the array. What are my options? Should I run a filesystem check outside of the array first? Thanks in advance. Quote Link to comment
John_M
You can connect it to a spare SAS port, if you have one available. You don't have to add it back to the array, in which case it will appear as an unassigned device. From the dashboard you can access it's SMART status and run SMART tests on it. You can do a file system check via a telnet or ssh session. If you install the Unassigned Devices plugin you can mount the disk outside of the array and copy the files from it onto the array.
