Replacing Mobo+CPU, best way to approach this

Featured Replies

My current setup has a hardware issue with the mobo that makes it restart mostly at random. I can sometimes get a couple of hours out of it before it shuts down.

I have a replacement mobo+cpu ready to install and cant seem to find an exact answer of what steps I would take.

I had permission issues a few other annoyances and mostly want to wipe out my install of the OS and start fresh.

What do I need to copy from my flash drive to keep my registration key.

Want to pull the data off the drives first but don;t really want to do it with the server running since I'm afraid all these shutdowns are going to corrupt the array.

If I plug my drives in through a dock, can I access them from my mac (passthrough the dock to a linux VM?)

I tried searching for this kind of scenario and couldn't find anything that answered all my questions for v6

unRAID could usually care less about the hardware on which it runs.  In fact, if you replace the MB and CPU, plug all of the hard drives back into SATA connectors and plug the your current flash drive, the odds are the system will come up and running.  And look to the outside world, identical to the old one.
