USB 3 & USB 2.0 Controllers in KVM?

Featured Replies

Hi

I refer to the following article... https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/USB_Devices_in_Virtual_Machines

Is it possible to assign a nec-xhci USB3 controller AND the standard ich9 USB2 to a VM?

The reason I ask is that I have noticed performance/compatibility issues with some bluetooth devices and USB2 keyboards/mice when connected to a VM using the nec-xhci (usb3) method.

If I use the standard ich9 (USB2) controller in my xml, the issues disappear. It would be nice to have an option where you can assign a USB device to a specific USB controller. I thought about passing through the entire USB controller to the VM but want to explore the option of using the emulated USB controllers first.

Thoughts?
