November 29, 20169 yr So, after losing my USB, I have been setting stuff up again. I noticed that I had an appdata folder on both the cache drive and in the /mnt/user directory. I can see that they are exactly the same and changes to one reflects changes on the other. (This was confirmed when I deleted the appdata in user and everything also disappeared on the cache. :'( ) Can anyone tell me what is causing this or where to change it? (Slight edit: This also includes "system" showing up on both as well.)
November 29, 20169 yr Community Expert Nothing to be changed, this is just the way unRAID works. User shares are the aggregate of all top level folders on cache and array drives. If you create a user share in the webUI, unRAID will create a top level folder on cache or array drives as needed according to the share settings. The folder(s) will be named for the user share. Conversely, if you create a top level folder on cache or array drives, it is automatically a user share with the same name as the folder. If you don't make settings for a user share it will have default settings. So, files/folder in /mnt/cache also appear in /mnt/user, as do files/folder in /mnt/disk1, etc. In addition to /mnt/user, there is also /mnt/user0. This is the user shares excluding any files/folders on cache. The mover script works by moving /mnt/cache folders to /mnt/user0 for cache=Yes user shares, and by moving /mnt/user0 folders to cache for cache=Prefer user shares.
November 29, 20169 yr Author Ah, now I see. I'm tired from doing this and being partially stupid. I was thinking "disks" even though I saw "user". Thanks for letting me know I am dumb in a nice way.
