November 29, 20169 yr Today I replaced an Array Drive, as I have done many times before, and something strange happened. Here is my setup. I had a 5TB for parity 1, a 5TB for Parity 2, and only one Array disk in the array and it was a 4TB. I replaced the 4TB with a 5TB and powered on the machine. I assigned the new Array drive and checked the box to rebuild the drive. When I have done this in the past unRAID has allowed me to keep using the Array and view all my files during the rebuild process. This time I noticed that unRAID wasn't showing any data in my Array. So I figured since I started the rebuild I might as well wait and see what happened when it finished. It finished and still no data. Fortunately I did not reformat my old disk 1 so I am using unassigned disks and krusader to copy all the data to the array again. All I have mentioned I have done drive swaps plenty of times, exactly the same way, with no issue. This is really bothering me because what if I would have been replacing a bad drive? Currently I have no redundancy while i am waiting for my copy to finish and that really bothers me too. Did unRAID choke or what happened?
November 29, 20169 yr If you can provide diagnostics that include the period during which you attempted the disk replacement someone will take a look and will probably be able to advise, otherwise it would simply be guesswork. https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=39257.0
November 29, 20169 yr Author No I did not pre clear before I put it in. I already rebooted and before I got the diagnostics...dang.
