Because of this: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=41783.msg396821#msg396821 The plugin requires an update to work with 6.1rc2 due to the renewed emphasis on security within unRaid Quote Link to comment
sacretagent
Can we please get this into unraid as a setting? it is so handy to have a recycle bin sometimes when most of my downloading and moving is automated... when the automation screws up i can still recover the files from the recycle bin If not anyone care to adapt the plugin ? Lacehim
Is anyone willing to give this a go to get this verified for V6.1? I really don't want to upgrade and lose this feature because I've lost heaps of data before when I accidently deleted stuff! No one appears to be maintaining it, and this feature is requested by a number of users. If I had the programing knowledge I would take it on, but I'm happy to help and test as required. kricker
Same here. I won't upgrade without this. It has saved my bacon a few times. Once when I wasn't using it, I somehow lost some projects I had worked on for a week. I am still not sure how it even disappeared, but I am sure if I had this plugin loaded I could have recovered it. Luckily I had old versions I was able to use. I installed Recycle Bin again right after that panic. Quote Link to comment
BRiT
You dont need a plugin to enable and setup recycle bin. Just setup the file manually once and you're set going forward. Quote Link to comment

Lacehim
Ok, so I can basically keep the existing smb-extra.conf which is already working then once the plugin has gone. The plugin does schedule a weekly empty though or can I just empty it manually? Quote Link to comment
MyKroFt
yes you ca do it manually, but you don't keep the recycle bin empty cron stuff, or manual empty recycle bin.... The recycle bin folder will just keep growing as you can not empty it from a smb share Myk Quote Link to comment
sureguy
You can empty it manually Quote Link to comment
Lacehim
Didn't work for me after upgrading to 6.1. If I delete something and it doesn't appear in the recycle bin. Grrrr. Quote Link to comment
MyKroFt
You can empty it manually not thru the plugin page = check your log its trying to run the empty bash script from /etc/rc.d which is not allowed anymore Myk Quote Link to comment
sacretagent
Always same with Open Source stuff .... somebody deems that for security reasons changes have to be made but nobody cares that the non geeks are left in the cold Quote Link to comment
dlandon
I'm currently working on updating the plugin for 6.1. I'll start a new post once I get it going. Quote Link to comment

dlandon
I have a beta test version ready for 6.1. Can someone try it out for me? I'm going to give it a try on 6.0.1, but I'm not confident it will work for that version. For now 6.1 only. I have not checked out any of the cron functions like weekly trash empty. I'll check that out now to see if the cron events are set properly. Use this link to load the plugin in the "Install Plugin" tab: https://github.com/dlandon/vfs_recycle/raw/master/vfs_recycle.plg Once I get some feedback and I am confident that it is working, I will start a new post about this updated version. I actually like this plugin and can see some real advantages for unRAID. I have deleted files before that I really didn't want to. Quote Link to comment
kricker
I'll be a guinea pig and test it out. I'll update Unraid now then install and give it a whirl. Have you made all the edits that were in the last few pages of this thread? Quote Link to comment
dlandon
I did all the changes for 6.1 and updated the plugin to be to the current standards. Quote Link to comment
kricker
I've tested it and it loads up just fine and items do go to the RecycleBin folder. The Empty Trash button within the plugin does not work though. Quote Link to comment

The Empty Trash button within the plugin does not work though. It works for me. Did you have the previous plugin installed? You should probably remove the plugin, reboot and then re-install the plugin. The old plugin dod not do a good job of cleaning up after itself. Quote Link to comment
kricker
I did exactly that. I first emptied the trash, then stopped the old plugin. Then I removed the plugin using the weGUI. After that, I restarted unRAID. I verified the plugin was gone and then installed the new one. Quote Link to comment
dlandon
Remove the plugin again and start a telnet session and verify that there is not a /mnt/user/.Recycled.Bin directory. Check it by using the ls -l .Recycled.Bin command. If it is there, remove it with 'rm -f /mnt/user/.Recycled.Bin. If it is left over from the previous plugin, the permissions are probably causing a problem. Be sure the /boot/config/plugins/vfs_recycle directory is also removed and try again. Make sure that the old plugin is manually removed from the /boot/plugins directory. Quote Link to comment
