Can't access lime tech website.

Featured Replies

For the past few days I've been unable to access this website from my home network. All other sites work fine and the site works on my devices if I connect through my phone's data network. Has my ip been banned or something?

By any chance, did you attempt to go to a user page on the wiki, and get a "403 Forbidden" page instead?  If so, see my recent story here.

Try a tracert and see how far you can get to lime-technology.com.

Yep, the wiki page error rings a bell. Still no access today, having to post this on my phone. Hope it doesn't affect server updates.

I couldn't access the forum pages yesterday for a few hours. I couldn't even ping lime-technology.com. I ran

traceroute

and found that packets were being dropped by some intermediate router 8 hops away, though various is-it-down sites were able to get through.

After a while normal service resumed and I was later able to read about and update to the new 6.3.0-rc6 without any difficulty.

I read RobJ's post but avoided the wiki because my address is a static one.

Except for one time, I couldn't get access back until I got a new IP from the ISP.  That one time, access was regained after awhile, but later lost again for good.

If you PM me with your IP, I can check if it's blocked for spamming.  I've been blocking a LOT of IP's lately, and while I'm rather sure I haven't blocked any users, might be nice to check for sure.  My own IP's don't show up on the block lists, so it's not someone 'reporting' our IP's in retaliation, so they would be blocked.

Still no access today. Traceroute from my router looks like this...

traceroute to lime-technology.com (216.119.154.106), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets

I'll pm you my IP RobJ, ta :)

Your IP isn't being blocked, as far as I could test.  More later, late for work...

Can you try a different tracert, perhaps a different machine?  And can you try a different DNS server?  It seems odd your tracert gave up so quickly on name resolution.

tracert from my laptop this time and I've reverted to using my ISP supplied DNS as opposed to OpenDNS which is what I normally use...

Would my ISP be blocking this for some reason?

  • Author

Working now. Had to reboot my modem and so have now got a different IP.

  • Author

And it's away again. I performed another tracert with my new IP and again I can't access the website. It's almost like the act of performing the tracert has somehow blocked my IP.

Are you in the UK? If so who is your ISP?

  • Author

Yes I'm in the UK. ISP is Virgin.

  • Author

Thanks but I doubt it's related. I have multiple devices on my network, both Windows and other OSs, and both static and DHCP assigned addresses. None of the devices can access the website.

Have you tried changing the DNS settings on one of your machines to Google's DNS servers just to see if that helps? Point them to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and then see if you can get to the site.

  • Author

I've tried 3 different DNS providers without success. Seems to be working fine this morning though. Very confusing.

You can easily rule out DNS problems by using lime-technology.com's IP address (216.119.154.106) directly.

I suddenly can't access this website either, using Google fiber. I can from my cell phone. Google's tech is telling me that they have determined that LT's server is blocking access from my Google fiber assigned IP. Any chance I've been blacklisted? Thanks.

Same problem here. Can't access from any machine on my lan, tracert hits cogent and won't ping past that using both the name and IP of Lime-technology. My work PC is fine, which is how I'm typing this. This isn't a DNS issue, it really looks like my IP is blocked.

If anyone wants to PM me their IP, I'll check it against the IP's that have been blocked for spamming (when I get home tonight).

So my IP isn't blocked... weird. The last IP I can hit is 38.88.191.46 (cogent), if that helps. I bounce all over comcast and cogent before I hit that last address. I'm still new to Unraid so I'm browsing a lot; luckily I can get around it by remoting to work.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have the same problem for several days.  Also on Comcast but also when using a VPN

Are you guys talking about the home page or new forums? The forums are on a completely different server and service provider from the home page.

So far, for most of us on the last forums, it's always been lime-technology.com and everything related, cannot even ping it, IP or domain name.  I don't know bubbaQ's access, but probably forums.lime-technology.com, which would be different.
