Unraid Setup Vmware Direct Lun Assigning Drive Issue

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone.

I am having a slight issue with a new unraid instance. I have it installed in vmware and have 3 3tb drives passed through to it using the steps here. http://www.ostricher.com/2012/09/setting-up-unraid-vm/

I am able to see the drives in unraid, both gui and cli. I try to assign the drive to parity and Disk 1 or 2, but as soon as I select any of the disk, the windows spins and then act like it refreshes. When it refreshes it does not have the disk selected any more. I have tried this many times with the same results. Different Browsers, different computers. I do not see anything in the logs. This is a brand new build, latest version of esxi, unraid. last part of the Logs are below. I am not sure what else to try. I have used this exact same set up before, but it was older version of unraid.

After doing more checking I found the Issue. They where SAS drive.

Assuming you are running unRAID 6.2, go to Settings -> Display Settings and change Display world-wide-name in device ID from Disabled to Automatic.  Click Apply then Done, and then go see if unRAID will let it be assigned!
