Can't access Windows RDP outside of Network after update (I think)

Featured Replies

Hi All,

So I have been pulling my hair out for the past week or two as I lost external access to my VM through RDP. I wasn't paying a lot of attention at the time so I cant say for sure what triggered it, but I have not been able to solve the issue.

I can access the VM through RDP within the LAN without an issue, but not remotely. I have been googling like a fiend trying to find the root cause but I have been unsuccessful. I know that the remote desktop service is enabled and running and I have forwarded the ports. As I said, I had it working like a charm and out of the blue it stopped working. I am starting to lean toward I updated something on my unRaid system and it broke it.

Anyway, I went back to the basics today and I stumbled onto what I think could possibly be the problem.

I noticed that under Settings --> Network Setting --> Bridging Members = eth0 (and I cant change it to anything else)

Then under my VM settings --> Network Bridge = br0 (my only other option is virbr0)

In some general reading, it sounds like these two settings should be the same in order for the VM's to work properly from a networking perspective. However, I cant change these settings to even test it.

Can someone let me know if this make sense or if I am on the right track? Otherwise I am completely stumped.

We are going to need much more information about your server and what version you are currently running and what version you upgrade from.

Plus, I Assume you can get to the GUI.  If so, 'Tools'  >>>  'Diagnostics'.  Then up load the diagnostics file with your next post.  If you don't have a GUI, you can type diagnostics on the command line and that will save the file to the Flash Drive.

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the reply.

I am running Unraid 6.2.4 and upgraded through the gui from 6.2.3.

I have attached the diagnostics zip file as per your request.

Bump Bump.

Really looking for some advice on this.

:)

Did you stop the array to see if you can access the settings?

Can the VM's access the Internet with the current settings?

Yes I can stop the array and access the network settings.

Yep the VM's have access to the internet and have both been assigned IP addresses by the router. I have tried resetting the router to factory settings and reforwarding all the ports with no luck.

This is why I am starting to lean towards its an issue with my unRaid configuration.
