December 10, 20169 yr I am experiencing strange issue here. Every time I reboot my unraid server, root password gets reset to the one I had 1st created at the time of install. Each time I have to logon to SSH and reset it to better/secure one by typing command passwd. Can someone help me understand what am I doing wrong here?

Changing it the way you have been doing only changes it in RAM which is why it does not survive a reboot. UnRAID runs mostly from RAM and as a general rule you should assume that any information not stored under /boot or /mint (or linked to those locations) will be list on a reboot.
