root password keeps getting reset to old one

Featured Replies

I am experiencing strange issue here. Every time I reboot my unraid server, root password gets reset to the one I had 1st created at the time of install.

Each time I have to logon to SSH and reset it to better/secure one by typing command passwd.

Can someone help me understand what am I doing wrong here?

you need to change it via the GUI (under Users tab).  Changing it the way you have been doing only changes it in RAM which is why it does not survive a reboot.  UnRAID runs mostly from RAM and as a general rule you should assume that any information not stored under /boot or /mint (or linked to those locations) will be list on a reboot.
