ripping DVDs to my plex

I have a bunch of DVDs that I would liek to rip to my server for use with plex.  I noticed there is a MakeMKV docker.  I have an old Lime Tech MD1100 server.  Is there a good optical drive that someone could recommend that I could easily attach?  Could I just get a USB optical drive?

    Just choose one that meets your needs. They all work and they are not expensive. Even cheap ones from eBay have mechanisms made by Panasonic, Samsung, LG, etc. If you have only DVDs then you might not need the Blu-ray capability and similarly you might not need a writer. On the other hand you might want those features in the future. I'm not aware of an optical disc writing application for unRAID, but a USB device can easily be unplugged and connected to another computer.
