December 13, 20169 yr so I forgot the format the drive before adding it to the array, now it shows up with a green dot when the array is started but also is unmountable. I'm not sure how I missed the formatting step. what's my best course of action here? Do I need to take it out of the array to format it now? I dont see the format option anywhere at this point. thanks,
December 13, 20169 yr Community Expert Go to Tools - Diagnostics and post the complete diagnostics zip along with a screenshot of Main - Array Operation. Do you have a parity drive? Did you preclear the drive? If not, then when you add a drive to the parity array unRAID will clear it before letting you format it. There is no formatting step before adding a drive. Whether you preclear it or let unRAID clear it, you must let unRAID format the drive AFTER you add it to the array. So, formatting before adding it is not the correct procedure, and in fact if you had formatted it (how?) before adding it then unRAID would just have to clear it and format it again.
December 13, 20169 yr Author thank you for your reply, please find attached. - yes, I do have a parity drive - yes, I did preclear the new drive, it was done on another system thought, it was properly recognized as precleared before I added the drive. It also showed the blue square before i started the array for the first time with the new drive. tower-diagnostics-20161213-0404.zip
December 13, 20169 yr If its a completely new addition to the array and nothing is on it, then on the Main Tab (array Operations), there should be a checkbox and button to format the drive.
December 13, 20169 yr Community Expert Don't know if something happened to your screenshot, or if you just didn't understand what I was asking for, but you are missing the specific part I was asking for, Array Operation.
December 13, 20169 yr Author not sure what to say, I'd swear the format button wasn't there first time I started the array, I was specifically looking for it. I just managed to format it and operates properly now, thanks again...
