Added new disk, what happends to my share?

Featured Replies

So I'm new to unRaid and I still need to learn a ton but I'm a little confused about something, so I have 1 disk in my array (that's a 4TB WD Red) and I just got a new disk (2TB WD RE4) which I installed, preclear and I've added it to my existing array. Now I have a share called "Media" where I store all my movies etc. and I read that unraid "balances" the data between the array so 1 disk is not getting filled but more "spread out". How does this work exactly? I've added a lot of movies but my new drive is still empty (and the disk is included on the share) so my question is: Did I fuck up my settings and is everything on a static disk or will the "dynamic" part kick in later?
