Unable to scroll the help text for Joe L's preclear_disk.sh script

Featured Replies

Can anyone point me to a listing of the options to control Joe L's preclear_disk.sh script?

I want to preclear my first disk under 6.2.4 and for some reason I cannot scroll the script help text either via the hardwired display or a Putty session.

I don't remember having this problem previously, but now the output just disappears off the top of the screen.

I have tried adding 'more' and 'less' but they don't seem to work for me (I assumed it would just be preclear_disk.sh -? | less).

I just get the same screen as without them with some question marks at the bottom. The only key which works seems to be 'q' to quit.

If there is a link to the help text available, I don't need a solution to whatever I am doing wrong on the command line, although it would be more satisfying to know.

Thanks in anticipation.

I just use less preclear_disk.sh.  That way, I can review the help notes, the change notes, and the case table where the options are delineated.  If I'm still uncertain about something, I'll open it in my editor so I can chase an option through all of its usage.

Thank you for that, Rob.

I assumed the format would involve a 'pipe' as in Windows - I never thought to put the command first.

BTW, did you mean to put "less preclear_disk.sh -?

No, I'm viewing the script, not running it (so no pipe).  I want to see both what -? would tell me, and what it won't tell me.
