Cache drive on subset of user shares?

Featured Replies

Is it possible to specifiy which user shares use the cache drive?  I'm thinking that a cache drive might be better when doing video editing because I will be creating and deleting big files alot.  Deleting big files on the array takes longer.  But for other user shares I would prefer they go directly into the array.

When the user shares are set up you can specify if the cache drive is used for that share.

I don't understand what you mean.  What I'm interested in knowing is it possible set some shares to use the cache drive and some to not use it?

Look in the Shares section of the WebGUI.  There is a selection box that specifically asks if you want the cache disk to be used for that share or not.  Could not be simpler than that...

I'm using the basic server so it's not there for me.  That's why I'm asking.  ;D

Thanks.
