"disk1 read error" Should I replace the disk 1?

Featured Replies

My unraid have been behaving badly recently. Sometimes it hangs and requires a manual restart.

Here are the logs.

https://gist.github.com/syaifulnizamyahya/234901cfdb177173e748eaba28597464

One thing I notice in that logs are

Dec 18 17:05:14 Tower kernel: md: disk1 read error, sector=1815058592

There are lots of lines like that in the logs.

Does this means that I should replace disk 1?

Can I change the hdd slot to another slot?

Attached the diagnostics file.

I have no intention of clicking on your javascript link. Please edit your post and attach your complete diagnostics zip which you can get by going to Tools - Diagnostics.

Disk1 needs replacing:

Device Model:     WDC WD30EZRX-00MMMB0
Serial Number:    WD-WCAWZ1881157

  5 Reallocated_Sector_Ct   0x0033   177   177   140    Pre-fail  Always       -       326
196 Reallocated_Event_Count 0x0032   001   001   000    Old_age   Always       -       293
197 Current_Pending_Sector  0x0032   200   200   000    Old_age   Always       -       34
198 Offline_Uncorrectable   0x0030   200   200   000    Old_age   Offline      -       195

But there could be could also be issues with disk2:

Device Model:     WDC WD30EZRX-00DC0B0
Serial Number:    WD-WMC1T3153031

197 Current_Pending_Sector  0x0032   200   200   000    Old_age   Always       -       6

The unassigned Seagate disks also show issues but since they are unassigned I'm assuming you are aware.

johnnie.black beat me to it.

The only thing I would add is I don't assume you are aware, since you had 2 disks in your array with issues. Do you have Notifications setup? Very important!

Thank you both of you.

Ok. I will replace Disk 1. You were right that I am aware that unassigned drive is failing.

The unassigned drive is out of warranty. What can I do with the drive?

Since you didn't respond to this, I think it is worth saying again.

Ok. I never look into that. Do you mean http://tower/Settings/Notifications? I see that browser notification is already checked. But there is nothing in the browser that provide any notification about disk1. If it something else, do tell.

Thanks.

Yes, that is what I mean. Go to that page and turn on Help (most pages in the webUI have Help) and see what it says about the Notices, Warnings, and Alerts.
