VM NIC traffic priority

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am running multiple VMs in Unraid and was wondering if there was a way to prioritize one VM’s network traffic over another? Or limit the bandwidth to a VM?

The main VM I am running on the server is a living room MC/Gaming VM and it works fine until the other VM’s start sending data (moving files to another PC on the network).  When this happens my Plex audio will go out of sync with the video and I have to stop and start the movie to get everything working again.

On a side note I am now running SFP+ 10Gbs to the server but I still had the problem when I was running Ethernet.  Shouldn’t the increase in bandwidth help this from not happening?

Thanks

This sounds more like a resource issue than network.  Are all your VMs using different cores?

Was playing around with it just the other day and yes they are on different cores and I still have the sound issue.
