anyone messed with this and validated his findings?

As I've been looking at possible SMB issues with Kodi from unraid from time to time..  which seems like it helped:

But if the true 'fix' is to change the SMB on unraid to an older version then thats easier to manage than making a registry change on multiple devices..

I had an issue with slow Samba download transfers from my two unRAID servers to several Windows 7 computers.  No problems with uploads to the unRAID server.

I finally found the solution had two different parts.  The biggest item was that I updated the 'Network adapters' (NIC) drivers.  (I had three computers with two different MB types--- two AMD and one Intel.)  I went out out to the manufacturer's websites to check for and get the latest drivers.

Second, I had the Win7 Windows Explorer 'Green Bar of Death' problem (a big issue back about 2010) that suddenly reappeared.  I fixed that by always using Explorer++ rather then Windows Explorer for network access to all Windows shares including those on Windows machines.  (I suspect that MS made some sort of update to Windows Explorer in the past few months.

I haven't had any problems for a couple of weeks now but I am always concerned that the true solution may have some mystic witchcraft enchant...    ::)
