kavo
Just noticed this error when running unraid with a monitor. Can't see it anywhere on the log though and I'm not sure what it means. Any help would be appreciated. Unraid Monitor: root@Box:~# ioctl(SIOCGIFHWADDR): Bad address ioctl(SIOCGIFHWADDR): Bad address ioctl(SIOCGIFHWADDR): Bad address ioctl(SIOCGIFHWADDR): Bad address ioctl(SIOCGIFHWADDR): Bad address ioctl(SIOCGIFHWADDR): Bad address ioctl(SIOCGIFHWADDR): Bad address ioctl(SIOCGIFHWADDR): Bad address ioctl(SIOCGIFHWADDR): Bad address ioctl(SIOCGIFHWADDR): Bad address box-syslog-20161228-0817.zip Quote Link to comment
wug
I've been seeing this exact issue as well for a few weeks now. Currently, I'm running 6.3.0-rc6. Quote Link to comment

dgaschk
Any answer for this? I started seeing it when I updated from 6.2.4 to 6.3.0. rack-diagnostics-20170204-1420.zip Quote Link to comment
Squid
Any answer for this? I started seeing it when I updated from 6.2.4 to 6.3.0. Wondering if it isn't related to your wrong csrf_errors. Two plugins that are questionable dynamix.plg (not needed and even though its listed as not installing, there has been a report in the RC9 thread about it causing problems) ssh.plg - Not sure if the author has tested this. Safe mode should be able to narrow this problem down further Quote Link to comment
jademonkee
I have the same error appearing after boot since upgrading from 6.2.4 to 6.3.0. I've attached a system log taken after a reboot. To save you digging through the log for it, I have the following plugins installed: CA Auto Update Applications CA Backup / Restore Appdata CA Cleanup Appdata Community Applications Dynamix Cache Directories Dynamix SSD TRIM Dynamix System Statistics Dynamix webGui (obvs) Preclear Disks Recycle Bin Statistics Unassigned Devices Were any of these what you meant by 'dynamix.plg', Squid? unRAID-SystemLog20170205.txt Quote Link to comment
Squid
You also have the dynamix.plg file (and I had to go through the syslog to see it ) It *shouldn't* affect anything, but is completely safe to delete. On the flashdrive, config/plugins/dynamix.plg Merely a shot in the dark, and on a quick search of google, appears to be driver related, so deleting the file probably won't fix it. (And if everything is running fine, may be harmless -> but I'm not an expert) Quote Link to comment
jademonkee
FYI I just booted to safe mode and get the same error at boot. Is the dynamic.plg the web interface? Will that leave me interfaceless? Thanks for your help (and prompt reply!) Quote Link to comment

Thanks for your help (and prompt reply!) Its an older version from when an update was available and installed. Deleting it doesn't affect anything Quote Link to comment
jademonkee
Cheers. Will delete it in a moment. FWIW I noticed that the error stops after I stop the array. EDIT: Deleted dynamix.plg while in safe mode, then rebooted. I still get the error. Quote Link to comment
jademonkee
Dunno if it's any help, but I also just noticed that every time I open the web GUI or change pages in the GUI, it adds another error line to the console. So I'm guessing that the error is appearing at every UI refresh? The lines appear by themselves every 60 seconds - even after I disabled the 'Page update frequency'. Quote Link to comment
Squid
Which means that its an issue with a background polling operation unRaid is doing. What by chance is the setting for Settings - Disk Settings - Poll Attributes? Curious more than anything else because at this point there's nothing that you're going to be able to do about it though... Quote Link to comment

EDIT: Deleted dynamix.plg while in safe mode, then rebooted. I still get the error. Same here. WebGUI locks up after 24 hours. Shares and SSH access are still available. Just no WebGUI. Deleted dynamix.plg Rebooted into safe mode. Every time I click on the webGUI the line " ioctl(SIOCGIFHWADDR): Bad address" appears in the console. Every single click generates a line and they sometimes appear spontaneously. Maybe on refresh. Any ideas? This looks like a bug. rack-diagnostics-20170205-1505.zip Quote Link to comment
navvy
I'm having the same issue. Never seen it while I was on 6.2.4 or below, just started with the 6.3.0 version. I've removed all plugins except: CA Auto Update CA Backup/Restore CA Cleanup AppData Community Applications I run a few dockers and no VMs. The ioctl(SIOCGIFHWADDR) error comes up with any web page load. I am running in a VM but haven't had any issues with that in the past. (ESXi 6.0 + vCenter 6.5) Any suggestions? I'm happy to try a few things. Cheers. edit: added diags. nas-diagnostics-20170206-2040.zip Quote Link to comment

John_M
Isn't that the call for looking up a MAC address (HWADDR)? So what in unRAID uses the MAC address? DHCP - try a static address. Bonding? - try disabling it. (Sorry, I'm just thinking aloud.) Quote Link to comment
jademonkee
It's related to Time Machine backups and has been fixed in 6.3.1: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=56281.msg537185#msg537185 Quote Link to comment
