Upgrading both Parity and Data procedure?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have 2 drives in my array - 4TB (parity) and 4TB (Disk 1).

Everything is working fine but I now want to replace both drives with 2 known working 6TB drives I've pulled from another system.

I'm a little confused by the Wiki and which procedure I'd need to use to do this properly, I see "Parity Swap" and "Replacing a Data drive" but neither really seem to fit/describe what I'm doing.

If someone could layout the correct steps I'd appreciated it.

Thanks for any help.

You need to do it in two stages.  First upgrade the parity drive and when that has completed do the data drive

As itimpi said.

Since one parity drive only allows one data drive to be rebuilt, you can only replace one drive at a time, no way to do both at once.

Thanks guys. One question regarding upgrading the drives:

Do I need to keep the old Parity connected then switch the parity selection/drop down to the new drive or can I take the Parity out, put the new drive in it's place and let UNRAID show it as missing and resync the Parity?

Either way works.
