Looking for Advice: Data-Rebuild with additional disk having read error

Featured Replies

I have an unraid v6.0.1 with 4 HDD, namely Parity HDD, Data 1 (disk1), Data 2 (disk2) and Data 3 (disk3).

Last week, I noticed in the dashboard that the SMART status of disk2 is showing some error. Fearing that the HDD might fail, I got a new HDD and replaced the it. However, during the Data-Rebuild, I am encountering disk3 read error that is slowing down the rebuild process tremendously. It was at 99.1% with estimated completion time of 43 days. To make things worse, I am not able to access the web management page now. I am only able to connect to the server through telnet. I am attaching the syslog and the output of the ps -ef.

Can someone advise the following:

1. Is there any commandline command to check the Data-Rebuild status?

2. Is there any way to restart the web-server to get to the management website?

3. Is there any solution for the problem that I am encountering  with the disk3 read error?

:'( :'( :'(

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

1. Is there any commandline command to check the Data-Rebuild status?

cat /var/local/emhttp/var.ini | grep mdResyncPos

If the returned position is "0", the rebuild is done

2. Is there any way to restart the web-server to get to the management website?

No

3. Is there any solution for the problem that I am encountering  with the disk3 read error?

Its possibly caused by inadvertently knocking the sata or power cable to it when replacing it.  No real solution until either the rebuild is done or you powerdown the server.

Because of the read errors, you may have corruption on the rebuilt disk.
