I am looking into a Supermicro chassis for unRAID, problem is I can't verify if the backplane will support larger than 2TB drives and the seller has no 2TB> drives to test with. I also need to know if the BIOS/backplane will support JBOD.

 

The mode is SSG-6047R-E1R36N and this article https://www.supermicro.com/products/system/4u/6047/SSG-6047R-E1R36N.cfm?parts=SHOW would seem to indicate that it does support larger than 2TB drives if you go to the drive options link at the top of the page.

 

As for the onboard LSI 2108 this article https://www.servethehome.com/lsi-sas-2108-raid-controller-information-listing/ would seem to say it does support JBOD.

 

Just looking for some input from anyone familiar with Supermicro chassis or this chassis in particular.

 

I am not going to hold anyone responsible if they say 'yeah looks like you should be ok' honestly, I am just looking for input, good or bad.
