March 7, 201016 yr I need a case, 3U or 4U preferably, with 10 or more SATA hot-swap trays, but it also has to have at least one up front 5.25 drive bay. Something like this: Any suggestions?
March 7, 201016 yr What's there behind that panel in the upper left corner? Is't that a 5.25" drive bay?
March 7, 201016 yr I think purko is implying that you should simply get the case you showed a picture of! Apologies if I'm wrong on that!
March 7, 201016 yr Author It's not for sale as a case.... plus I'm looking for options and don't want to jump on the first one I find.
March 7, 201016 yr It's not for sale as a case.... plus I'm looking for options and don't want to jump on the first one I find. Understood. And at first I thought the pic was a photoshopped "dream" case.
March 7, 201016 yr Author Another reason to not buy this one, is that I don't know what it looks like from behind the cages -- particularly w/r/t air flow. The newer Norcos are clearly the best, with the pc board on the backplanes turned edgewise. But none of the Norcos have the 5.25 bay.
March 7, 201016 yr But none of the Norcos have the 5.25 bay. ... and Bubba wants to show off his new LED display toy. Don't they make any of those displays panels in 3.5" size?
March 8, 201016 yr Author ... and Bubba wants to show off his new LED display toy. Actually, no... it is for a Lantec PATA hot-swap tray. I have to frequently work with a lot of of PATA disks -- burning images to them -- and USB-to-PATA is way too slow. I tried a kludge eSATA to an external eSATA cabinet, and then a SATA to PATA converter. But it was unreliable.
March 9, 201016 yr Author Thanks! Those are both the same Chenbro, which has the WORST airflow restrictions of all the cases I have considered.
