January 12, 20179 yr Hello! I just started using Unraid and it seems ive run into an issue. Let me start off with my array configuration. I dont have a parity drive yet but I will be adding one. For Array Devices i have 2 3TB drives and 2 4TB drives Then my Cache Devices i have Cache:64GB ssh then Cache 2 is a 250GB ssd. Now i need help understanding cache drive. Is it dumb that i have a 64GB ssd with a 250gb ssd? When does it move the files off the cache drive? I thought it would be instantly when it gets full.
January 12, 20179 yr Don't know about the SSD's but when the data gets moved goes according to what you set in Mover Scheduled Time. So you can set it to run nightly if you want. Just do a search on Mover. http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=FAQ#Cache_Drive
January 12, 20179 yr With a 64gb and a 250gb cache pool, your pool size is 64gb which IMO is rather small for a cache if you're using it for anything other than docker.img and appdata
January 12, 20179 yr Is it dumb that i have a 64GB ssd with a 250gb ssd? Yeah, that's basically not a good idea unless you don't want any redundancy. By default unRAID configures your cache pool in a RAID 1ish configuration where there are always two copies of your data. With a 64GB and a 250GB SSD you're going to max out at 64GB available, per the calculator that trurl linked. I'd either pull the 64GB SSD or add an additional SSD - either approach gets you more space (and you could use it). Or you could configure to remove the redundancy altogether.
