January 14, 20179 yr I've got a situation where disks are spinning down causing a backup application to report a windows error 59 (network resource no longer available). I can manually set the spin to 'never' and that solves the problem. However, is there a way to have spindown on a schedule? Or a way to speedup spinup so that an app has more 'paitence'? I'll check into the app (Goodsync) to see if there is a setting for that...but I doubt its that sophisticated...
January 14, 20179 yr Community Expert Is it spinning down during the backup, or is it just taking too long to spin up when the backup starts? If it is the latter then you could schedule a spinup to happen a little before the scheduled backup.
January 15, 20179 yr Author Its the latter. A backup will start, work through a number of files on Disk4, then move to Disk5 (which is spun down), then before Disk 5 spins up, it kicks off errors.
