January 17, 20179 yr I am trying to pass through a wireless receiver for an xbox 360. I have tried 2 different adapters with multiple VM's (i440fx/Q35, Windows/linux, etc) . When the device is passed through to a VM, I receive the following error continuously (247 times per second). Jan 15 23:34:27 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3.2: reset full-speed USB device number 9 using ehci-pci Jan 15 23:34:27 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3.2: usbfs: usb_submit_urb returned -28 Jan 15 23:34:27 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3.2: usbfs: usb_submit_urb returned -28 Jan 15 23:34:27 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3.2: usbfs: usb_submit_urb returned -28 Jan 15 23:34:27 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3.2: usbfs: usb_submit_urb returned -28 Jan 15 23:34:27 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3.2: usbfs: usb_submit_urb returned -28 Jan 15 23:34:27 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3.2: usbfs: usb_submit_urb returned -28 Jan 15 23:34:27 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3.2: usbfs: usb_submit_urb returned -28 Jan 15 23:34:27 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3.2: usbfs: usb_submit_urb returned -28 Jan 15 23:34:27 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3.2: usbfs: usb_submit_urb returned -28 Jan 15 23:34:27 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3.2: usbfs: usb_submit_urb returned -28 Jan 15 23:34:27 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3.2: usbfs: usb_submit_urb returned -28 Jan 15 23:34:27 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3.2: usbfs: usb_submit_urb returned -28 Jan 15 23:34:27 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3.2: usbfs: usb_submit_urb returned -28 Jan 15 23:34:27 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3.2: usbfs: usb_submit_urb returned -28 Jan 15 23:34:27 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3.2: usbfs: usb_submit_urb returned -28 Jan 15 23:34:27 Tower kernel: usb 2-1.3.2: usbfs: usb_submit_urb returned -28 The device appears to work correctly in the VM, although some issues have arose. VM's are unable to reboot (the VM just shuts down), and they randomly stop running. I have not attempted to pass through an entire controller, since I have only 1 at the moment. Any suggestions? tower-diagnostics-20170117-1035.zip
January 17, 20179 yr Is your USB a VIA chipset, if so there have been a few post recently that the VIA chipset does not work well. I have a VIA chipset that I am passing through and it hangs up my VM on reboot from time to time. I have been lazy to get a different one and I believe people have been having good luck with NEC chipset on the USB controller.
January 17, 20179 yr Author Shows as an INTEL in the System Devices. I did just get a new 4 port pci card that I plan on installing this week to see if that changes anything. 00:1a.0 USB controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation C600/X79 series chipset USB2 Enhanced Host Controller #2 [8086:1d2d] (rev 06) 00:1d.0 USB controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation C600/X79 series chipset USB2 Enhanced Host Controller #1 [8086:1d26] (rev 06)
January 17, 20179 yr Yeah I would try a PCI-E USB card to pass-through, make sure its not VIA chipset as you may have issues with it. NEC chipset works the best I hear and another person got this card and confirmed it works so I am look at picking one up as well. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LZWC7TL/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
