March 10, 201016 yr Running Unraid Pro ver 4.5.3 Followed the direction in the wiki Add one or more new disks This is the normal case of expanding the capacity of the system by adding one or more new hard drives: Stop the array. Power down the server. Install your new hard drive(s). Power up the unit. Start the array. Setup the new drive in Devices as disk6 Now all my drives say Unformatted. Thats about all i've done. attached is the syslog. syslog.txt
March 10, 201016 yr The disks all failed to mount. Just DO NOT PRESS THE FORMAT button. Send an e-mail to lime-technology. Point them to this thread and this syslog. There appears to be a timing issue in initially mounting the drives.
March 10, 201016 yr Author thx for the quick reply.. I'm rebooting now. I've also noticed i get a few beeps during startup, not sure if this came about in 4.5.3 or if its due to the timing out issue.. Ok post reboot, all the drives appear normal, the new drive drive5 says unformatted, and i can get on to all my shares. Seems things are getting back to normal. Do i format the new drive? or just leave it as is till i get word from Lime Tech?

If all the other drives are now showing properly, and the only drive showing as unformatted is the new one, it is OK to press the Format button and continue on with the setup of your server. Again, send Tom an e-mail pointing to this thread and the syslog. It might have the clues needed for him to figure out what is going on. Joe L.
March 10, 201016 yr Author Huge thanks again... Had visions of having to restore all my data from thousands of downloads, and pulling it off CDs, DVD, and BluRays again... Email sent
March 12, 201016 yr I just ran into the same thing after replacing a drive. I didn't notice it at first and started a rebuild. Even though the drives are showing as unformatted (or unmounted as what it really going on) I show reads incrementing on them. So it appears the rebuild is actually happening correctly (or at least I hope): This is what it looks like: https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0Advghj2pHJ8vZGM4YjRmbTVfMTI3ODRiN2dnNQ&hl=en Disk4 is the one currently being rebuilt. Here is my syslog btw: http://pastebin.com/Disg7Tad
