GPU passthrough on Linux Guest Ubuntu 16.04

Hi there, new to unraid, I've setup an unraid install and after some tweaking was able to setup a win10 VM with PCI/GPU passthrough. I have another GPU card that I want to pass through to an Ubuntu VM. I have to use VNC to install the OS. once the OS installs I've spent the last couple hours spiraling into xorg missing devices and have been unable to get a successful xorg.conf to get the GUI to boot.

 

lspci in the guest shows the GPU and I'm able to see the display when using nomodeset but I'm unable to configure a mode

    3. Adjust your preference.
