VNC connections to VM

Featured Replies

I'm getting started with some virtual machines and have some questions about the VNC connection options. It seems that unRAID comes with noVNC as a built-in option for connecting to the VM. What other options exist for connecting to the VM and what are the tradeoffs for them? I think I could download a VNC client software for my Windows laptop and then make a VNC connection from that software into the VM. Is that more secure or "better" than the web browser VNC (noVNC) connection?

I've noticed there is an option in the noVNC window for "encryption" but when I select that the whole VNC connection into the VM doesn't seem to work. I think I have to setup something further to use this encryption setting. What is the advantage to using it, and how would I go about using it?

My main priorities right now are to have a secure connection between my Windows laptop and the VM (Ubuntu) running on my unRAID server.
