Help requested - unable to troubleshoot cron job responses

Featured Replies

So, I have my unRaid server set up to email me warnings and alerts.

For some time now, I have been receiving this mail every day on the account I use for sending out the warnings and alerts (a GMail account)

Subject: cron for user root /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/ca.update.applications/scripts/updateApplications.php >dev/null 2>&1
Message: /bin/sh: dev/null: No such file or directory

I've been meaning to ask, but real life problems kept me away from maintenance duties, so to speak.

Last night, after updating the password on said GMail account, I received a new message:

Subject: cron for user root /usr/bin/run-parts /etc/cron.daily 1> /dev/null
Message: error: Ignoring tor because of bad file mode - must be 0644 or 0444

I can of course see that the first one is related to the Community Applications Update plugin, but I have no idea what file it is that is missing. The second one could be related to the sending of diagnostics/usage files to Lime Technology as I believe I saw Tor mentioned for that setting (which I can't remember the location of, now)

So before I start removing and re-installing anything (and possibly remove vital log clues), I wanted to ask here if anyone has an idea about what's going on and how to solve it.

Thanks!

Update CA and CA Auto Update.

Update Preclear.  (But if the error about TOR doesn't go away, uninstall preclear and reinstall it)

Hi Squid,

thank you for the ultra fast response!

Unfortunately, they all appear to be latest version:

Community Applications: 2017.01.29

CA Update: 2016.12.18

Preclear: 2017.02.01

Have manually refreshed to double check for updates but wasn't offered any.

Uninstall all three, reboot, then reinstall

Ok, have done this now - will monitor and see what happens for the next couple of days.

Thanks!

One down, one to go.

The Community Applications message has disappeared but the message about tor is still there.

I did remove and reinstall the Preclear plugin.

Am open to suggestions :-)

Try removing and reinstalling the Preclear plugin again, but without the stats reporting (ie. click "Dismiss" rather than "Install" when the window pops up). That's what uses tor.

You may also have to reboot after uninstalling preclear before reinstalling it to completely clear out the error.
