alternate cpu recommendations

Featured Replies

i ordered an ASRock X99 Extreme3 LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX mobo.

I was planning on getting an Intel Xeon E5-2658 V3 ES QEYF 2.0Ghz 12Core 30M off of ebay. however the only ones i can find are from china and im not wanting to mess with purchasing from china. Any recommendations for an alternate cpu for this board thats would give me similar performance?

I would also avoid ES or QS versions (these are often the cheaper versions you find on eBay). These are Engineering samples and may not have all the normal features of the CPU turned on/available. Things like VT-d which you may need. That looks like an engineering sample...Intel Xeon E5-2658 V3 ES QEYF 2.0Ghz 12Core 30M

Here is my system -

unRAID 6.2.4 - Plus | Array 12 TB |  250GB SSD Cache |

System ASRock X99 Extreme3  |  Xeon E5-2658 V3 |  16 GB | Corsair CX600M

I ordered my 2658 from China no issues.

I have seen some of the Xeons local but not many and usually priced higher.

What is the power usage like on an X99 E5-V3 setup like that? How many drives?
