Unable to access network shares from Win10 VM on unRAID

Featured Replies

I am currently unable to browse or access the network shares on my server. This is the second time this has happened. Last time it happened back in September after I ran the 6.2 update but I wasn't sure if that caused it but now I'm certain that it was after I ran the latest update to unRAID.

Previous thread with this issue: https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=52108.msg501750#msg501750

So I've tried removing all the plugins and rebooting the server and am still unable to connect to any shares from my Windows 10 VM running on my server. I can access the shares from my Windows 10 laptop for now.

I've tried all the obvious stuff, using a different user, resetting passwords, removing all credentials and running the permissions tool. Nothing is working.

Somebody please help me figure this out.

Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure it's an unRAID issue as it has happened twice after an update to the server. I just rebooted my laptop and sure enough I can't access any of the shares from there now either.

I'm looking through the other thread now but is there any way that there might be a way to fix this from the unRAID side?

If it is any consolation I am also unable to connect to the shares on my unRAID server from a Win10 machine.  This machine is just a normal Win10 install, no VM or anything.

So we just upgraded to 6.3 over the weekend and ran into many windows systems from windows 8.1 - 10 that would not connect just gave the password prompt over and over again. Only thing I found to correct the issue was going to gpedit.msc, Computer Configuration, Windows Settings, Security Settings, Local Policies, Security Options, and under Network Security:LAN Manager authentication level and changing the level to Send NTLMv2 response only. After changing that the systems would connect normally again.

Matt Cooper FTW! I've been racking my brain trying to fix this problem for days. I owe you one.

Thank you sir.

I was not happy with the fix I posted above so I went and change the SMB version back to 2.02 on the server using max protocol = SMB2_02 in the SMB config this also seems to correct the login issue.
