February 5, 20179 yr Greetings, I enabled Active Directory in my SMB settings and it has a "AD join status":"Joined". The "AD Initial Owner" and "AD initial group" are default, so "Administrator" and "Domain Users" respectfully. The integration is working and I'm getting prompt to access the file shares and only users in my Domain AD are being accepted. The problem is that I've unable to understand, and there is no documentation about it, how to really setup permissions for each fileshare. As an example: I have a share called "Temp" with the following SMB Security Settings: Share name: Temp Export: Yes (hidden) Security: Secure Than I have section for "User Access" that indicates that "Guests have read-only access" well and how the hell do I setup groups and extra users? Because it has no other buttons or options. The folders inside this share are all owned by the unix/nobody (the user running docker) and I cant setup permissions to change those files (delete, move, etc). Can someone teach me how to do this? Ive search the forum and google and no luck so far. Thank you, Best Regards, Ralms.
February 5, 20179 yr Author After exploring a bit more it seems that Unraid does not update share folders permissions when you join the Domain. And since all my shares were used for a week before I joined the domain, they just have normal Unraid permissions and ignored the new settings from AD. I created a new share "Test" again to check that and it was correct, the permissions assigned where the ones set as "AD Initial Owner" and "AD initial group" in SMB settings. Does anyone know how I can update the permissions on the old shares? I just really need to change the ownership and I can go from there. Thanks. Best Regards, Ralms.
April 19, 20242 yr Hi, I'm new in Unraid and shocked about the level of AD integration. Even simple printers do it better since 20 years. All the issues I found in the web are still issues. Since many professional IT environments depend on AD, including my company, Unraid will not find much followers in this area. I really started liking the product but this is a show stopper for me, even in my private installation. BR Günther
