Transferring Files with MC from Disk to Share?

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm trying to get thing running on my new server. I'm told that moving files with Midnight Commander and the disk attached is far more efficient, however I'm not sure if it's possible to move files from a disk to a user share. I don't see any shares in the MC windows. Does anyone know if this is possible since I don't plan on using disk shares at any point and it's not recommended to move data from disk to user shares.

What exactly do you mean by "the disk attached"? Are you trying to transfer files from an Unassigned Device?

I think that would be ideal if possible, move them from "Unassigned Device" to a share and then add that drive into the array.

Unassigned Devices are not part of the user shares so you can copy from them to user shares without getting the User Share Copy bug.

The Unassigned Disk will appear /mnt/disks/whatever-you-mounted-it-as. The user shares are under /mnt/user.
