Oh god I think I overwrote a drive help!

Featured Replies

I have Unraid 6.3.0 booting from usb and controlling 4 drives in a hp microserver.

A B C D

A (2TB) is parity

B (2TB) is d1

C (2TB) is d2

D (250MB) is cache

C goes offline, I have a 5TB seagate (E) I want to swap in, so I follow the instructions here: http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/The_parity_swap_procedure

I removed bad drive C, inserted new parity drive E, run the copy the cache drive script which completes.

All of a sudden on the control panel I see that d2 is completely missing a drive. E shows up as unassigned. Parity shows up as A, not E!. I stupidly rebooted. Array is started. Here is where I stand (attachment).

From here, my parity needs to be d2 and my unassigned drive needs to be my parity.

Somebody please help me. I seem to still have all my files. Thanks in advance!

Not sure what you mean about the Copy Cache Drive script - that is not part of the Parity-Swap procedure?

Your screen shots suggest that so far you have only completed the first 8 steps of the process off that link.  Do you think you have done more?

I didn't quite understand what happened before but in the current configuration you can still do the parity swap procedure, it's the only way to rebuild the missing disk if your spare is larger than current parity.

I mean the copy button. It appears in step 12/13. I don't think this was a good idea but I started copying the parity data again and will do the procedure again starting from there. The procedure finished last time but I was unable to start the array manually since for some reason the array had already started without me telling it to. Thanks for your help.
